What to include

None of this is mandatory. Send what you have and we will ask about the rest — but the more of it that arrives in the first email, the closer the first reply gets to a real number.

• A drawing, model, or photo — A STEP or IGES file is ideal. A 2D drawing works. So does a photo of the part or a sketch on paper — we have quoted from all three.
• How many you need — A prototype, a first run of 500, or 50,000 a year. The number changes which process makes sense, so a rough figure is more useful than none.
• Your target price, if you have one — Telling us the number you need to hit is not weakness — it is the fastest way to find out whether material or process changes can get you there.
• When you need it — Production lead times generally run 30–45 days once tooling exists. Tooling itself takes longer. Knowing your date shapes the answer.
• Anything that has already gone wrong — If another supplier turned the part down or the last run came back wrong, tell us. That is usually the most useful thing in the email.

What happens after you send it

An engineer reads it, not a sales inbox. If the part is a fit, you get questions about material, tolerance, and finish — the specific ones that decide cost. If it is not a fit, we say so and tell you why, rather than quoting high to make it go away.
