FAQ
Why are overmolding and two-shot parts made in Shenzhen, not Thailand?
Overmolding and two-shot parts are made in Shenzhen because the 2K presses, tool room, paint line and CMM lab are all there. A part moves from mold to paint to inspection without a handoff to another company. Thailand runs injection molding, warehousing and assembly only.

Where does each step of a multi-material part happen?
| Step | Where | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Mold design and cutting | Shenzhen tool room | The team that built the mold re-cuts it if the design changes |
| Overmolding and two-shot molding | Shenzhen, on dedicated 2K presses | Two-shot runs on a press built for it |
| Painting | Shenzhen paint line | Paint is checked on the same floor as the molding |
| Measuring | Shenzhen CMM lab | Parts are measured against the CAD model |
| Assembly | Shenzhen, and also Thailand for parts that need only assembly | Finished components arrive from the Shenzhen floor |
Why does keeping it in one place help?
A bond, shrink or paint problem on a multi-material part usually shows up at the handoff between steps. When molding, painting and measuring are on one floor, the people involved can look at the part together. A part sent to a separate paint or assembly company does not get that look. See why multi-material parts fail for the problems the review checks for.
What does Thailand run?
Fudakin’s Bangkok factory runs injection molding, warehousing and storage, and assembly. It does not run overmolding, two-shot molding, CNC machining or painting. Those stay in Shenzhen. More on the split is on our Thailand manufacturing page.
What about the China plus one question?
If you want some production outside China, plain injection-molded and assembled parts can run in Thailand. Multi-material parts stay in Shenzhen. Where a finished product counts as made depends on the job, so your customs broker confirms origin. For the tariff side, see China vs Thailand US tariffs.
Where can I learn more?
Our multi-material molding page covers overmolding, two-shot and insert molding. The Shenzhen manufacturing page shows the rest of the floor.
